Advocacy in Action

Started in 1976, Touch, Smell and Hear is a yearly event that benefits special needs children from public schools in Harris County by educating them on their senses and allowing them to celebrate the holiday season. It takes place each December at the Museum of Health Sciences.

For the past 8 years, HCMSA has partnered with Elves & More to select one at-risk school in Harris County and provide bikes and helmets to its students.

Over the past 10 years, HCMSA has organized one general meeting to be a fashion show. This allows the alliance to highlight an upcoming fashion consultant or boutique in Harris County, and get to know and promote a local business.

Since 1979, HCMSA has held an annual gala celebrating significant figures in medicine and raising money to fund scholarships. HCMSA awards annual scholarships to medical and nursing students, including students attending UT Health and Baylor College of Medicine.
