Texas BookShare & BookSpring
Texas BookShare is a new program of the TMAF and TMAA that provides a generous grant to the TCMA, so we are able purchase children’s books, in both English and Spanish, that focus on healthy living. These books, along with messages of encouragement, are presented to children at their annual pediatric doctor visits at various Austin practices that serve vulnerable populations. TCMA also supports BookSpring at our Holiday Luncheon, a nonprofit organization that promotes children’s literacy.

Grant Giving
TCMA has an annual community-wide sponsorship drive where we ask hospitals, medical practices, and other businesses to support our initiatives. We then hold a Party With a Purpose to thank sponsors and accomplish further fundraising for grants. We select several worthy health-related nonprofit organizations as our grant recipients each year. In 2021, we were proud to support Saint Louise House, Volunteer Healthcare Clinic, and the TCMS Physician Wellness Program as our grant recipients.

Hard Hats for Little Heads
Since 2016, TCMA has given away almost 1800 children’s bike helmets at various medical practices, community health fairs, and several AISD schools.

Medical Advocacy
During Texas Legislative years, TCMA participates in First Tuesdays at the Capitol. A group of TCMA members go to the capitol to lobby for TEXPAC-endorsed movements. TCMA also hosts a legislative reception for local politicians prior to the start of the legislative session.

Nursing Scholarships
Each year, TCMA administers the distribution of several nursing scholarships for deserving students at UT School of Nursing and Concordia University, through the TMAF Hispanic Nursing Scholarship Trust Fund of Dr. Roberto J. and Agniela (Annie) M. Bayardo.

Saint Louise House
TCMA sets up 2-4 apartments and prepares meals for clients 4-6 times per year for Saint Louise House, a nonprofit that provides transitional housing to empower women and children to overcome homelessness.

Vaccination Clinics and PPE Delivery
TCMA has partnered with the TCMS to deliver PPE to medical practices in the Austin area. We also volunteer at Covid-19 and flu vaccination clinics in the region.

Volunteer Healthcare Clinic
TCMA provides items as needed for the clinic, most recently BP cuffs for patient at-home BP monitoring, and diabetic foot care kits.
