The TMA Alliance invites you to join your friends from around the state for ALLMED 2024 in Dallas May 2-4. ALLMED is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the alliance, get reinvigorated about the organization, hear new ideas, and renew friendships and make new ones. In addition, you’ll get to hear dynamic and engaging speakers, participate in the Annual Business Meeting, congratulate winners in our annual awards competition, and have fun.

ALLMED is open to all TMA Alliance members. Come along as we continue to Go *FAR* Together.

Registration is $120. This fee helps offset some of the cost associated with the luncheon, receptions, speaker, room and audiovisual rental, and other items that enhance the conference.

More than a Med Spouse: Leading at Home, With the Alliance, and in Your Community

Doreen Steenland, who spoke at the Texas Two-Step Conference, returns for another interactive and experiential learning session. With her insight as a physician spouse, she will help you explore leadership possibilities and perspectives in your homes, within the alliance, and in your communities. She desires to connect you with your personal passion and purpose to impact the world as “more than a med spouse.” Prepare to connect with others, where we will spark some fun and unlock the collective creativity and wisdom in the room.

Doreen is an RN, author, leadership coach, and speaker – and one of 13 medical professionals in her family. Medicine is her family’s dinner time talk! Her passion is to empower medical families to love their lives and work, without the influence and baggage of their high-stress careers. Doreen believes we are all leaders, and leadership begins within ourselves. She uses science-backed methods to equip med spouses to create time for what’s most important and to love their lives again.

Doreen lives in New Jersey with her husband of 32 years and three adult kids. She loves golfing, hiking, and all things outdoors. Her favorite place to rest is her front porch!

Leadership in Three Metaphors

Three levers of leadership are purpose, power, and priorities. Using three metaphors, Dr. Hutchinson will reveal a unique perspective on leadership that is inclusive and sustainable, and will inspire reflection and action for leaders with and without a title. This presentation will draw on inclusive leadership theories, behavioral economics, and more than 30 years of leadership experience in medicine, academia, and the military.

Dr. Hutchinson served 25 years as an Army physician before retiring to Austin. He has a BS in chemistry from West Point and a medical degree from the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Hutchinson is an adviser for the National Academy of Medicine Culture of Health Program Team and serves on the board of the Austin Black Physicians Association. He helps leaders and organizations across the country transform their work through his leadership advisory business, The Wade Alliance . By focusing leadership through an equitable, diverse, and inclusive lens, his goal is to emphasize outcomes over intentions.

New for ALLMED 2024: Poster Session Reception

This “brag” session will allow alliances to share their winning ideas. Each alliance is asked to create a poster highlighting its signature event or project, which will be displayed during the reception on Thursday, the networking session on Friday afternoon, and during the TMA poster session. The poster should be on 24-by-36-inch foam core, sturdy enough to rest on an easel (provided). Plan to have one or two people on hand to answer questions from your colleagues, TMA friends, and leaders. Please email the name of the project you’ll be highlighting with a local contact for more information to TMAA, which will be included in the ALLMED program, and please include the contact's name somewhere on the poster.

Reserve Your Hotel for ALLMED

Omni Dallas | 555 S. Lamar, Dallas, TX

TMA special room rate is $239. Reservation deadline is April 16, or until the room block is full.

Prepare for ALLMED

  1. Register for ALLMED until April 22. Gather a group of members from your alliance so you’ll fill your voting block at the Annual Business Meeting (ABM). Each alliance receives 10 votes.
  2. Create your alliance poster to brag about one of your local successes. Be sure to email TMAA the name of your project and local contact by April 15 for inclusion in the program. This will ensure alliance members know who to contact for questions and information.
  3. Submit names of deceased members of your alliance to TMAA for recognition at the ABM by April 15.
  4. Submit candidates for TMAA's Nominating Committee, to be voted on during the ABM by April 15. Send TMAA the person's name and a photo (head shot), plus an email from the nominee stating his/her willingness to serve.
  5. Review action items and the consent agenda for the Annual Business Meeting.

Please check back for updates.
