Advocacy in Action

New playground: Wichita County Medical Alliance pursues projects with a long-term goal of increasing awareness of and opportunities to improve health in Wichita Falls. Its first project involved raising more than $100,000 to install a new modern and artistic play structure at their local park. The new playground equipment has been a wonderful asset for the entire community.

Planting Trees: WCMA works with the City of Wichita Falls to plant trees in a section of Hamilton Park, which is now named Doctors’ Park, to celebrate the careers of our local physicians. Over the years, the Alliance has planted more than 100 live oak trees to honor the physicians who have retired and memorialize those we have lost. It is an amazing living legacy of our physicians, and it will only grow stronger and live as a testament for generations.

Hard Hats for Little Heads: WCMSA has given away more 1,000 helmets to local children through TMA’s Hard Hats for Little Heads program. It holds a helmet give away annually.

Medical Missions & Relief Projects: Since 2001, the Alliance leads a medical mission to areas of the world that need medical assistance and relief. Some of their projects have included providing assistance to relief efforts in the Philippines’, Nicaragua, Haiti, Guatemala, Indian Ocean and Houston. Currently, they are working on the Pakistan Flood Relief and Haiti Medical Mission efforts.
