Advocacy in Action

  • The Lubbock CMS Alliance and the Lubbock CMS have been involved with several organizations to bring awareness to sex trafficking. We have helped with information sessions, the “sticker campaign”, and fundraisers for OneVoice Home, a shelter for victims of minor sex trafficking.  Please contact Libby at libbywhite98@gmail.com or email us at LCGMSAlliance@aol.com, if you would like to become involved in this potentially life-changing project.
  • The Lubbock CMS Alliance help to start the South Plains Immunization Network (SPIN).  For the last four years the Alliance has volunteered at the SPIN flu clinic at the South Plains Food Bank and the Christmas Voucher Program at the First United Methodist Church.
  • For two years, we have given out Be Wise Immunize Fact Sheets and information on child abduction prevention and the importance of bicycle helmets at the Spring Health at Harwell Elementary. Last spring, we gave out bicycle helmets as door prizes.  We also had two Hard Hats for Little Heads events at Harwell’s Trunk or Treat in October.
  • For over 10 years, the Lubbock CMS Alliance have had Hard Hats for Little Heads events at health fairs at Safety City in Clapp Park.  We also have had Hard Hats for Little Heads events at the Back to School Fiesta at Texas Tech University.
  • Last June, Lubbock CMS Alliance members helped the nurses from the Emergency Department at Covenant Children’s Hospital give out over 300 bicycle helmets at a picnic celebrating Covenant Health System’s Centennial in Maxey Park near the hospital.
