Advocacy in Action
Coats for Kids community fair – This is the Travis County Medical Alliance’s second year to partner with the junior league for this event. We provide helmets and instructions for fitting/using helmets to all children receiving coats.
Back to School fair at the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic – The TCMA provides back packs with school supplies to all children coming in for physicals and immunizations. This is our 5th year to partner with the VHC.
The TCMA also stages 2-4 apartments and cooks 4-6 meals for the St. Luise House. The St. Luise House provides transitional housing to empower women and children to overcome homelessness.
The TCMA has an annual fund drive within our organization. All members are asked to donate and support the philanthropic initiatives of the TCMA in our community.
The TCMA also has a community wide sponsorship drive where we ask hospitals, doctors offices, and other businesses to support our initiatives. The TCMA chooses recipients each year to provide grants to. Our 2019 grant recipients are Aloe Foundation, Austin Center for Grief and Loss, Partnerships for Children, People’s Community Clinic, St. Louise house, TCMS Physician Wellness Program, and Volunteer Healthcare Clinic. Our Party with a Purpose is the final event which will be held on March 30, 2019. We invite all of our members and our sponsors to the event. Please contact Lori Benold at Lori@loribodine.com for more information.
Legislative and Political action
The TCMA participates in all First Tuesdays at the capitol. A group of TCMA members meet and go to the capitol to lobby for TEXPAC endorsed movements.
The TCMA hosts a legislative reception for local politicians prior to the session beginning. This event is scheduled for January 16, 2019.
