Relationships are essential for successful advocacy. That’s why the TMA Alliance is taking its award-winning grassroots program, First Tuesday at the Capitol to the DISTRICT. TMA Alliance members, many along with county medical society, will schedule visits with local legislators and their staff to establish and/or continue building strong and meaningful relationships. Join us!

The Plan

The FTID team, consisting of TMA Alliance members, physicians and medical students will visit their legislator at least three times between Oct. 1, 2019 and December 2020, preferably the first Tuesday of the month. The visits are focused on relationship building, with members of the FTID team listening and learning more about who represents them.

First Visit [Fall 2019]:

Alliance champions along with their county medical society will host legislative receptions; and will schedule small group visits with their local legislators.

Second Visit [Late Spring 2020]:

Alliance champions will schedule small group meetings to learn more about the legislator’s priorities, especially as they relate to health care.

Third Visit [Fall 2020]:

The FTID team will meet with their local legislators and share TMA’s Healthy Vision 2025 – the association’s 87th legislative agenda. Our goal is to discuss TMA’s top 10 legislative issues and ask for their support.

We also want to discover issues we have in common and how we can work together to improve the health of Texans in each region.
